The Evoque is Land Rover's best-selling model and the most available second-hand. It opened the make to an urban audience through its design, very recognisable and well aged.
It is also the model where the gap between the used purchase price and the real servicing cost is the widest in the range. Fast depreciation brings it within reach; its servicing stays upmarket.
Of the 98 used Land Rover Range Rover Evoque listed right now: 83% are diesel. 71% have automatic transmission. Half are priced under €20,000.
The first generation, from 2011 to 2018, is now very affordable and remains the most sought after for its design.
The second generation, from 2019, brings a clear step up in finish, complete driver aids and plug-in hybrid versions.
Front-wheel-drive versions exist on some trims: check the listing if four-wheel drive matters to you.
This is the decisive point on this model: a complete main-dealer service history. The electronic systems and the transmission are expensive to repair out of warranty, and an incomplete book should make you walk away.
Set a realistic annual servicing budget before buying: it is the main cause of unpleasant surprises on this car.
On four-wheel-drive versions, servicing of the differentials and transfer case should appear in the book.
The cost of a full set of tyres in these sizes is significant.
A buyer who wants the design and finish of an urban premium car, and has budgeted the corresponding servicing rather than discovering it later.
