Looking for a used car under €10,000? We currently have 8,948 listings on the site. At this budget you will find recent city cars and compact saloons with reasonable mileage.
This is the heart of the used market, and the bracket where the relationship between price paid and condition is generally most favourable.
At this level you reach recent city cars and compacts of five to eight years whose main components have not yet come due – provided you check which are approaching.
Of the 16 used Dacia Dokker listed right now: 100% have manual transmission. Half are priced under €15,000.
Listings come from both private sellers and dealers, with the mileage, year and engine shown on each one, so you can easily find a car that matches your budget and your needs. Every listing shows the year, engine, power, mileage, transmission and price, along with where the vehicle is and whether the seller is a private individual or a dealer. From there you can narrow the selection further, or widen it to the neighbouring categories below.
Current-generation petrol city cars, petrol or diesel compacts around 100,000 km, slightly older family estates and the first entry-level compact SUVs.
Equipment improves markedly on the bracket below: automatic climate control, cruise control, a touchscreen with smartphone connectivity and the first driver aids become common.
This is also where choice is widest, which genuinely lets you compare several examples of the same model rather than taking whatever is available.
Petrol dominates the smaller cars and remains the default for urban and suburban use.
Diesel is well represented on compacts and family cars and still makes sense above roughly 15,000 km a year, favouring examples whose history shows long journeys.
The first conventional hybrids appear at the top of the bracket, along with early electric cars. On those, battery state of health matters far more than mileage, and you must establish whether the battery is included with the car or was leased separately.
This is the main step up from the bracket below: at this price a stamped service book and invoices genuinely exist, and they become the best selection criterion.
The timing belt or chain interval frequently falls in this bracket. Replacement is expensive and skipping it can destroy the engine: the invoice should be present or the interval still distant.
Ex-fleet cars are common. Their mileage is high but often motorway miles, serviced in the network at the prescribed intervals – generally a healthier profile than low urban mileage with no history.
The full history rather than the odometer alone, and whether the two agree.
On a diesel, the type of journeys: an urban car with a clogged particulate filter will cost you, whatever its mileage.
On three-cylinder petrol engines with an oil-immersed timing belt, strict adherence to the replacement interval is documented as critical.
Tyre and brake condition, which gives a reliable read on the previous owner's driving.
A main car for daily use, including regular journeys. This is the bracket to aim at for a first serious purchase, or to replace a car at the end of its life without overreaching.
It also suits a family looking for a dependable second car.
Budget alone does not decide it. Cross it with the body type your use calls for, the engine your mileage justifies and the gearbox you prefer.
The links below let you combine this price bracket with a make, a model or a particular engine.
