LPG is taxed less heavily than petrol or diesel, which translates directly into a lower fuel bill. It is a small segment on the used market but a real one, and it suits high-mileage drivers whose budget is the deciding factor.
There are conditions attached, and they are worth understanding before buying rather than after.

Some cars leave the factory with LPG, with the tank, plumbing and engine calibration designed together. Others are converted afterwards.
A factory installation is generally the safer buy: the warranty covers it and the integration is known. On a converted car, ask who did the work, when, and whether it was properly certified.
Either way, the tank is subject to periodic requalification. Check the date of the last one – it is a recurring cost and an obligation, not an optional service.
LPG costs materially less per litre than petrol, though consumption is somewhat higher, so the saving per kilometre is real but smaller than the pump price suggests.
The saving only outweighs the purchase premium and the servicing above a certain annual mileage. Below that, a conventional petrol car is usually the better total cost.
Most LPG cars are bi-fuel and keep a petrol tank, which removes any range concern.
The filling network is thinner than for petrol and diesel and varies considerably by region. Check there is a station on your regular routes before buying.
The tank usually occupies part of the boot, often the spare wheel well. Look at what that leaves you in practice.
Some underground car parks restrict LPG vehicles. If you have a residential parking space, confirm this first – it is the constraint people discover too late.
